1. Which version of the Chain Rule should I use?

Both the function of a function (f o g) version and the  version involve a very similar process. Choose whichever you understand best.

Once you have done a few examples, you can almost do them in your head!

 

2. What type of functions should I use the Chain Rule for?

Functions of the type (x -1)7, trig functions such as sin(6x) and exponential functions such as e2x+3 which you will learn about in later topics.
