Three Dimensions

Summary

flat shapes such as squares and octagons have two dimensions and can be easily drawn on paper.

solids objects such as cubes and prisms occur in three dimensions and are difficult to draw on paper.

solid geometrical objects have faces, edges and vertices.

objects can have several views from above, the front or side.

isometric paper is paper with dots arranged in a triangular grid which helps to draw three dimensional objects.

Key Skills

  • recognise and name solid shapes and their properties.
  • recognise solids from different views and nets.
