Year Levels

The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 7 (Year 8 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 10-13 years old. The 50 topics are split into seven general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: working with numbers, measurement, shapes, geometry, algebra, statistics, probability and four extension topics, for more able students.

The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 8 (Year 9 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 12-14 years old. The 50 topics are split into six general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: basic number theory, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics and probability.

The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 9 (Year 10 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 13-15 years old. The 50 topics are split into seven general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: numbers, measurement, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, statistics and probability.

Year 10 (NZ Year 11)
The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 10 (Year 11 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 14-16 years old. The 55 topics are split into ten general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: basic number theory, general geometry, measurement, transformation geometry, circles, algebra, equations, graphs, trigonometry, probability and statistics.

Year 11 (NZ Year 12)
The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 11 (Year 12 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 15-17 years old. The 50 topics are split into five general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: algebra, geometry, graphs, calculus, trigonometry, statistics and probability.

Year 12 (NZ Year 13)

The content and activities of the course are designed at Year 12 (Year 13 in New Zealand) level for students in the age range 16-18 years old. The 100 topics are split into fourteen general areas of a typical mathematics curriculum at this level: differentiation, integration, algebra, complex numbers, trigonometry, statistics, probability, sampling, time series, sequences, series, functions, motion and equations.
